Maranatha have their own resident cultural singing and dancing group. There are daily drum practises on the beach as well as local dancing lessons including the dances of the Agbadja, Adowa, Kpanlogo, Ablode, Apatsa. All guests are more than welcome to join in and have lessons.
Every weekend, a big bonfire is lit and the group perform a spectacular cultural show to entertain the hotel’s clients
The hotel organises a number of boat tours out on the Volta River. In the wide spread delta of this river there are hundreds of smaller and bigger islands. The countless arms of the Volta River are perfect for exploring, taking a trip to the mouth of the estuary is spectacular and finding a secluded corner for a private swim can be a wonderful experience
There are many different things to do in the area surrounding the hotel, not least of which is simply lying on a hammock under a palm tree looking out over the estuary
Maranatha beach is the nesting ground for three different kinds of marine turtles and night-time turtle walks can be organised through the Ghana Wildlife Division office in town
Trips can be organised to take a boat out to the Sugar Cane Island of Azikpe, to meet their people and visit their small rum distillery
Crocodile Island is also worth a visit, although no longer home to crocs, has become famed for its incredible basket weaving
Boats can be taken out to the local town of Anyanui where they have a weekly wood and cloth market on a Wednesday or out to Keta, set on a stunning lagoon famoused as a paradise for bird watching
Ada Foah, itself has a bustling market every Saturday morning and a walk into the main market-place from the hotel, through all the small communities can be arranged on the back of a moto
